Install brave linux5/31/2023 A poster was given instructions on how to install it and stated he didn't do any of that, he just went straight to Software Manager and it was just there, waiting to be installed. I guess it is technically possible to install it that way but, in the context it was being discussed in this thread, that is not what happened. Can you detail how you were able to accomplish this were you using Mint? Did you use command-line to install the keys and update with commands and then decided to go to Software Manager in a circuitous route to install it for some reason? If someone is able to simply open Software Manager and install Brave without first taking essential steps to install the Brave repository and keys yourself, you likely have an invalid, and perhaps corrupted, installation of Linux Mint.Īnd yet the first time I installed Brave on two different machines, I was able to do so from the Software Manger.Īnd yet, I didn't realize Mint included Brave in the repositories it provided for us to use. If you install a PPA, which is not the method which Brave recommends to use, then you can also install via Software Manager.Īgain, as was stated in this thread by a poster, you can't just go to Software Manager and install Brave as if it is included with the repositories that Mint provides. If you follow all the terminal commands above, except for sudo apt install brave-browser, you can then go to Software Manager and refresh the list of packages and Brave will show up and you can then install it from Software Manager. If you follow these instructions, Brave will appear in Mint's Software Manager and it will already be installed, as seen here: Sudo curl -fsSLo /usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg Įcho "deb stable main"|sudo tee /etc/apt//brave-browser-release.list Code: Select all sudo apt install apt-transport-https curl
